Pictured here with Ray Halligan, Chairperson of the Waterford IKA Branch, and Vera Frisby, Branch Treasurer. “The Irish Kidney Association was founded in 1978 by a group of dialysis patients so that patients in renal failure could have a representative organization to help dialysis and transplants patients. Our main fundraising event, Organ Donor Awareness week, takes place in late March each year. It gives us an opportunity to express the need for organ donors as each year over 600 patients are waiting for organ transplant in Ireland. This year Covid severely curtailed our fundraising capability. Blaa Giveaways kindly donated 2,650 euro to our cause locally. These funds were badly needed, many thanks to all at Blaa Giveaways” – Ray Halligan, Chairperson IKA Branch.
